The J1 Visa Program of the EACC Texas is designed to give European students, recent graduates and professionals the opportunity for practical training in the US. The program encourages cultural exchange through an experience of US culture and the workplace. For EACC member companies, the J1 Visa Program provides access to global talent and the chance to build international relationships.

Know the difference: J1 Intern v. J1 trainee
J1 Intern
Must be currently enrolled in and pursuing a degree at a post-secondary academic institution outside of the US OR have graduated from one less than 12 months before the start date of the J1 Visa Program
No longer than 12 months and a grace period of 30 days during which participants can travel in the US but not work
Finished at least 1 year of the degree program and completed sufficient academic coursework before the start of the program in order to be sufficiently prepared for internship in the US
Internship directly related to the academic field of study
J1 Trainee
Must currently hold a degree from a post-secondary institution outside of the US and have at least one year of employment in your occupational field outside the US OR have more than five years of work experience in your field outside of the US
No longer than 18 months and a 30 days grace period during which the participant can travel in the US but not train or work. If the participant is in the hospitality or tourism training program, the visa is issued for no more than 12 months
