Another incredible webinar! Don’t forget to check out the recording now available on the EACC YouTube page.

Thank you to all the incredible participants of our recent webinar on #EnergySecurity
It was truly inspiring to hear our talented and expert speakers share their invaluable insights on this critical topic.
Energy security has taken center stage in recent years, especially with the escalating energy price volatility and the weaponization of the energy market, as exemplified by the ongoing war in Ukraine. These developments have not only shaken the global energy landscape but have also had far-reaching implications on geopolitical dynamics and market stability.
Resilience has emerged as a pivotal concept, driving strategies to enhance the energy transition. As Gabriel Collins put it, “you have to survive today to transition tomorrow.” Major events of the past decade, from the pandemic to climate change and geopolitical conflicts, underscore the pressing need for cooperation. As Dr. Mallika Ishwaran emphasized, these challenges demand collaborative efforts.
This spirit of collaboration is deeply ingrained in organizations like NATO, where “the sum of individuals is greater than the individuals themselves” as David van Weel reminded us.
In this evolving landscape, flexibility, resilience, collaboration, and adaptation have become the cornerstones of sustainable solutions. While global-level cooperation may sometimes appear elusive, competition can also be a catalyst for innovation and progress, as “steel sharpens steel,” as Gabriel Collins noted. Dr. Mallika Ishwaran highlighted that collaborative energy transition, at times, may appear competitive, but ultimately, it serves the goal of improving the lives and future needs of citizens.

We thank Aura Cuellar for her valuable contribution to the success of this event, moderating the discussion to perfection, and Mark Rebergen for his dedication and participation in the success of this program.

In addition, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Loyens & Loeff for their generous hospitality in hosting this webinar at their #Rotterdam location and for providing us with access to their onsite studio. This collaboration has truly enriched our experience, and we are immensely grateful for their support.

This program served once again as an opportunity to bridge the distance between Europe and the United States. Working in synergy with our EACC sister chapters has always been a rewarding effort, and we’re thankful for the opportunity.
Stay tuned as we’ll soon be sharing the recording of this webinar on our YouTube channel

Another incredible webinar! Don’t forget to check out the recording now available on the EACC YouTube page.

We are thrilled to share the valuable insights our esteemed speakers brought to the discussion!
Rob Bauer, Admiral RNLN reminded us of the profound impact that the war in Ukraine has had on our perception of reality. The assumption that we would never witness war again has been shattered, challenging the very foundations of our economy, which relied on strong economic ties as a safeguard. Collective defense is no longer solely a military concept, it extends to all aspects of our society, including infrastructure, energy, food, and migration. These elements can and will be utilized as weapons if we fail to address the threats.
Wytske Oyevaar emphasized the critical importance of knowledge sharing and highlighted the commendable efforts made by Microsoft to protect Ukraine’s government but also its vital and critical infrastructure from cyber-attacks and misinformation. Their work is crucial in maintaining the security and integrity of the country’s infrastructure!
Andrew Blau delved into the various scenarios that were discussed on the eve of the Ukrainian conflict. While we are fortunate that some of those scenarios did not materialize, we must not overlook the serious social and political costs associated with such conflicts. It is imperative that we do not take our current stability for granted and remain mindful of the potential implications for the future.
Andrew Blau reminded us that adaptability and resilience have proven to be key elements in navigating difficulties and mitigating repercussions in sectors such as energy, macroeconomics, and food security. By prioritizing energy efficiency, adaptability, and diversification of supply chains, we can enhance our resilience & endurance during this prolonged period of uncertainty.

Rob Bauer, Admiral RNLN also reminded us that we are facing a challenging time in our history. At every level, we must cultivate resilience and unity. It is crucial for world leaders to come together, unify their efforts, and educate the public about the reality and lasting impact this situation will have on all our lives.
Special thanks to our moderator Sjoerd van der Smissen, for skillfully guiding the discussions and ensuring a productive and engaging webinar experience for all, and to Eleonora (Leonoor) Russell and Kim Vrielink for their guidance and support in the preparations.

Thank you to everyone who attended our webinar!
