“Putting your Languages to Work Part I: HR Professionals panel” is an event for students and faculty from universities across Texas. Join our panel of HR professionals explain why job seekers who have a background in a second language stand out and why the soft skills developed as a second language learner are needed in the workplace.
Mary Katherine Rademacher works as the Assistant Vice President in Graduate Recruitment & Program Management for CITI. MK is driven to serve, learn, and connect with others. She is an experienced fundraiser and relationship manager excelling at effectively engaging and evaluating current and potential partners.
JP Pruneau is the Director of Strategic Partnerships at Globalization Partners and has considerable knowledge in establishing meaningful global partnerships. Before joining Globalization Partners, JP spent seven years in the HCM Industry focusing on individual production, managing a sales team, and handling strategic partnerships in the southern United States. JP has a well-founded understanding of the global landscape. He has his BBA in International Business from Texas Tech University and has lived in Canada, Sweden, and The Czech Republic. The panel will be on Thursday, February 24th, 2022 from 3:00-4:30pm. This event is co-sponsored by the European American Chamber of Commerce – Texas, the Southern Methodist University Department of World Languages, and the Southern Methodist University Hegi Career Center. Paola Buckley with SMU will moderate, giving the panelists each 10 minutes to give a detailed background presentation, followed by some questions, and ending with a Q&A session. This event is part of SMU Dedman College Global Literacy and Languages for Specific Purposes Research Cluster initiative that unites faculty from a range of academic and professional disciplines. This research cluster unites faculty from a range of academic and professional disciplines to discuss and define a set of shared goals and best practices to provide students with real-world, global perspectives and transferable skills aligned with skills employers seek in the contemporary workplace. Topics of discussion include curricular innovation, academic and corporate partnerships for internships and fieldwork abroad and at home, and the assessment of and integration with SMU’s Common Curriculum requirements with a focus on the integration of world languages and cultures for professional purposes across the curriculum.
